His dam, Clovelly Wave, was bred for polo in the eastern states.  Her career in polocrosse started in WA, where she went straight into a B grade winning side.

His sire, Blacklock Mikado, was campaigned by Heath Stewart in 2001 for wins in led, ridden and working events, and gained 2nd overall in the 2001 Maturity.  Several of Mikado’s half sisters (Yowada Danielle and McNiells Mischief) have represented WA in national polocrosse, and another sister Reagan has been a very successful campdrafter with Heath Stewart.

Riptide has classic stock horse breeding with 3 foundation sires (Abbey, Muster and Nabinabah The Gun) and 1 foundation mare (Nabinabah Comma) within 3 generations. These are time-honoured bloodlines that were the basis of the Australian Stock Horse Society.
